Patrick Reardon – Executive Chairman, ReardonSmith Architects
Drawing on his 40 years experience, Patrick Reardon takes a spirited and candid look at the good, the bad and the downright ugly in hotel architecture and design around the world. Never shy of courting fierce debate, Patrick has been known to challenge prevailing attitudes about issues ranging from sustainability and celebrity design to hotels of the future. Stand by for a bit of controversy from one of the industry's true leaders in this part presentation, part interview.
Patrick has worked in the hotel industry for nearly 40 years including a number of years based in the U.S. with responsibility for worldwide architecture at first with Holiday Inn International and then with Hyatt International. In deciding to return to the UK, it was with the firm belief that there was a requirement in the European marketplace for an architectural design practice truly specialising in the international hotel sector and, in 1988, he founded the practice which was to become ReardonSmith Architects.
